The Far West Show - Patina Buffalo Hunt

In my series Cast in Bronze, Drawn with Mud, I explore the tradition of bronze monuments, which commemorate heroic figures while symbolizing the gradual fading of memory. The green-blue patina acts as both preservation and passage of time. I juxtapose these figures with petroglyphs, drawing on indigenous artistic traditions to contrast with the legacy of Western European sculpture.

White Earth

The bison of North America endure the harsh landscape through every season, braving blizzards, rainstorms, and the scorching sun across the plains. I depict each bison in colors that symbolize the seasons, layered over the ground 'White Earth,' the land of my Chippewa heritage.
